Turkey Chili

I love Chili, all kinds. From Texas style with no bean, green chili, ground beef and turkey chili and everything in between. This one is one of my favorites. Simple, tasty and super easy to put together. The cayenne pepper her doesn’t make it as hot as one might think. It’s more of a undertone of warmth, combined with the chili powder it’s perfect for a cold winter evening at home.

Turkey Chili
Serves 6

1 pound ground turkey
1 15 oz can of kidney or black beans, drained
3/4 c diced red onion
3/4 c diced bell pepper
3 cl minced garlic
1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
1 15 oz can tomato sauce
3 T chili powder
1 t salt
1/2 t cayenne pepper
1/4 t basil
1/4 t black pepper

Sour Cream
diced onion
sliced jalapeno or serrano
crumbled up tortilla chips

Add ground turkey, onions and bell peppers to a large pot over medium low heat. Stir and cook until meat is turning brown. Add the chili powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper salt and basil. Stir well.

Add the kidney beans, crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce to the pot. Stir this in really well. Place on lid. Bring to boil, reduce heat to low and cook for 35 minutes. Let everyone add their own topping. Enjoy.
